Glasgow Clan got the first win of the new season as they spoiled Fife Flyers’ opening night in a Scottish derby matchup.
The Clan With no goals in the opening period, it was the Clan who took control of games in the middle session – Mathieu Roy on the powerplay at 26:38, followed by Chad Rau just under two minutes later to double the lead. Scott Tanksi made it 3-0 shorthanded on a breakaway with 43:32 played.
The Flyers did however make a game of it, and two goals in 83 seconds from Danick Gauthier and then Tim Crowder gave them a chnce at tying things up – but it wasn’t to be, and the Clan took the points.
