The Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan completed a four-point weekend with a hugely important victory over the Dundee Stars at the Braehead Arena.
Dundee were immediately put under pressure as they were forced to kill off a four-minute penalty within the opening two minutes of the game.
After failing to capitalise on the four-minute powerplay, Steven McParland opened the scoring for the Clan when he tapped the puck into the net at the backdoor after being set up by Kevin Massy on the powerplay.
Jordan Cownie got involved in the action early on as he got tangled up with Erik Naslund on multiple occasions through-out the opening period.
Cownie doubled the Clan’s lead just 41 seconds into the second period with a top shelf finish in the slot to kickstart a dominant period for the Clan.
Gabriel Chabot made it three for the Clan later in the period with a scintillating top corner finish on the slapshot after being fed a through-the-leg pass from Stephen Dixon.
Mitch Jones and Carter Folk exchanged a few words after a collision at the end of the second period as the Clan took a three-goal lead into the second intermission.
The Stars grabbed their first goal of the game early in the third period through Phillipe Sanche as he fired the puck into the top left corner with a powerful wrist shot from the right side.
The Clan responded instantly though as Steven McParland finished off a fast-paced breakaway with a backdoor finish after the pass from Gabriel Chabot.
The Stars dropped the Clan’s lead back down to two with a Romans Semjonovs shot which snuck past Muse as he was caught off his line by the Stars’ forward.
The Stars thought they’d grabbed a third goal when Carter Folk snuck the puck past Muse late in the game, but after a video review it was determined that the puck entered the net from underneath the goal post.
Drew McLean rounded off the game with an empty net goal from his own zone as the Clan claimed their second win of the weekend and their third win of the season against the Stars.
