Glasgow Clan bounced back from Friday night’s overtime loss in Guildford with a solid road win in Fife, taking two important points from Kirkcaldy on Saturday.
It took time for the game to settle, but the closing moments of the first period delivered plenty of action. Jason Fram opened the scoring for the Clan on the powerplay at 18:22. Brayden Burke’s pass into the slot didn’t reach its target, but the puck rolled out to Fram at the point and he hammered it past Christian Purboo. Fife hit back with 27 seconds left in the period when Ethan Somoza battled to a loose puck and managed to squeeze it beyond Lucas Brine to tie the game.
Glasgow took control in the second period with three goals that put them firmly in charge. Darien Kielb restored the lead at 25:41, finishing low after joining the rush. Tristin Langan added another just over a minute later, and Brett Neumann struck soon after to send the Clan into the intermission with a healthy advantage. Neumann felt the performance was exactly what the team needed. “We needed to bounce back after the loss yesterday and responded well.”.
The visitors extended their lead early in the third. A point shot from Robert Lachowicz appeared to take a touch off Richard Jarůšek on its way through before hitting the net at 42:20.
Johan Porsberger offered Fife a late highlight with a well-placed wrist shot from the high slot at 51:53, beating Brine cleanly, but it was not enough to spark a comeback as the Flyers slipped to another home defeat.
Reflecting on the win, Neumann said: “It was a good game and a big two points. We’ve proved we can compete with anyone, but also can’t underestimate any team either. We just have to keep getting better as we move on.”
