Cirelli signs eight-year extension with Lightning

Anthony Cirelli signed an eight-year, $50 million contract extension with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday that begins next season. It has an average annual value of $6.25 million.

The 24-year-old forward will play the final season of a three-year, $14.4 million ($4.8 AAV) contract he signed with Tampa Bay on Dec. 24, 2020.

Cirelli had 43 points (17 goals, 26 assists) in 76 games for the Lightning last season. It was one point shy of his NHL career-high 44 points in 2019-20.

He had eight points (three goals, five assists) in 23 playoff games for Tampa Bay, which lost the Stanley Cup Final in six games to the Colorado Avalanche.
