CHL Power Ranking Poll for January 27

ODESSA, Texas – Another week in the Central Hockey League has come and gone and the teams are as entrenched as ever.

season aspirations.   The Eagles in Colorado remain as strong a team as the CHL has ever seen.   Challenging them as best they can are the Odessa Jackalopes who have come out from a small lag in their effort and are now pushing their lead in the Southwest Division to the point of absurdity.

Meanwhile the bottom dwellers are fighting for the scraps.   IN the CHL, there is no prize for finishing last like a draft pick.   There is only the ignominy of finishing out of the running for the post season.

The 800-pound beast in the room is the economy and its ultimate impact on the CHL and the rest of the minor league systems.   Finishing last in the standings may be one thing but finishing last in attendance will be the real death knell for some franchises.
