Chicoutimi wins important game against arch-rival Quebec Bourcier scores the goal that made the difference

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Coming off a victory against Blainville-Boisbriand on Sunday Chicoutimi had an important meeting Tuesday night facing arch-rival Quebec Remparts. Ranked 11th overall in the QMJHL standing one point ahead (63-62) with one game in hand Chicoutimi got the last word winning 3-2 against Quebec in front of 2810 fans.

Seeing their opponent come from behind twice in the game after a scoreless first period the Sagueneens were opportunistic in taking advantage of every scoring chance they got with the last one coming from the stick of Jonathan Bourcier who beat Quebec goaltender Evgeny Kiselev on a breakaway after accepting a pass from left winger Antoine Marcoux midway trout the third period. After a scoreless first period Chicoutimi opened the scoring at even strength. Taking advantage of traffic in front of Quebec goaltender Sagueneens center Zachary Lavigne beat Evgeny Kiselev with wrist shot high on left side at 3:44.

Quebec took advantage of the first penalty in the game following a call on Chicoutimi right winger Jake Smith found guilty for high sticking at 6:41. With first shot from Quebec defenseman Raphael Maheux blocked by Chicoutimi forward the puck came back on other Quebec defenseman Aaron Dutra who beat Sagueneens goaltender Julio Billia high on right side at 7:23.

Chicoutimi regained the lead 2:01 later with a shot by Marc-Andre Gauveau from the slot leaving no chance to Quebec goaltender Kiselev at 9:24.

Quebec tied the game on Jesse Sutton goal his shot deflected on player stick before beating Sagueneens netminder high on right side at 6:29. For Sutton it was his first in last 42 games; his last one came on October 11 against Moncton.

Chicoutimi regained the lead for third times in the game as Jonathan Bourcier accepted a perfect pass from Antoine Marcoux before going on breakaway and beat Quebec netminder with 9:03 remaining to play in third period.

Quebec next game will be Friday night in Blainville-Boisbriand facing the Armada
