Chicago downs Oilers, 4-3, in OT

In Chicago, the Blackhawks’ Alex DeBrincat scored off the power play midway through extra time on Thursday to defeat the Edmonton Oilers, 4-3, on Thursday.

Patrick Kane hit for a goal in regulation for Chicago.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 29 saves in the Hawks win.

Chicago moved to 20-27-8.

Leon Draisaitl scored for the Oilers, and Evander Kane hit for a double in the loss.

“The last couple of games, I thought I had good legs, but I haven’t really gotten the opportunities, the clean looks,” Kane said. “Tonight, I finally got some pucks toward the net, which is a big part of my game and was able to get rewarded.”

Edmonton dropped to 30-21-4.

Sam Lafferty‘s goal for Chicago gave them a 1-0 lead.

Kane’s second strike tied the game, 3-3, with under a minute to go in the third period, to force the extra session.

“It’s always nice when you’re down by [a] goal late in the game to find a way to send it to overtime,” Edmonton coach Jay Woodcroft said. “I think it speaks to our players’ character to push in that fashion. In the end, we found a way to get a point out of a tough game here tonight.”

Dominik Kubalik also scored for the Blackhawks.

Mikko Koskinen made 28 saves in the Oilers loss.

“‘Koski’s’ been unbelievable for us,” the Oilers’ Darnell Nurse said. “He’s playing hard. Things happen in the game, but he played his [behind] off again tonight and held us in it at points in the game when they could have went up one or two. He made some huge saves and had a great night again.”
