Charlottetown wins first game at home over Quebec Series tied 2-2

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Getting on the ice in game four tailing quarterfinal series 1-2 it was imperative Charlottetown played better game in hope of tying the series. Already taking the lead twice in the game, seeing their opponent coming two times, the second goals in the game by Brett Bodgell made the difference and an empty net goal by Pascal Aquin also his second of the game, lead the Islanders to win 4-2 win against Quebec tying the series 2-2, with game five on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 1-2 in quarterfinal series against Quebec Charlottetown opened the scoring I game four on their first power play opportunity. Going 2-in-8 with a man up in the series, Brett Bodgell scored his first of the series taking a rebound from Nikita Alexandrov. Unable to keep the rebound Bodgell beat Quebec goaltender Samuel with a backhanded shot with 7:21 to go in the first period.

Unable to take advantage of their first two power play opportunities going 1-in-16 in the series, Quebec scored their first goal in the game at even strength. Taking advantage of a turnover at their own blue line, Quebec went on two-on-one breakaway as Matthew Groutchy, made perfect pass to teammate Andrew Coxhead, living no chance, to Islander goaltender Matthew Welsh with 4:16 remaining in the period. For young Quebec center it was his first of the playoff.

Both teams trades goal in middle frame. Charlottetown regained the lead for second times in the game. Veteran forward Pascal Aquin surprised Remparts netminder with a wrist shot beating Samuel over left shoulder with 14:41 left in second periods.

Quebec came back tying the score for second times with only 34.8 seconds in middle frame. Winning his battle for the puck along the board Olivier Garneau did not get an assist but captain Matthew Boucher wrist shot beat Islander goalie over his left shoulder.

Charlottetown regained the lead for third times on second of the night by Bodgell who only had to push a loose puck in Quebec netminder crease flowing first shot by Alexandrov with 5:30 remaining in the third periods.

Insurance goal came with 46.8 seconds left on the clock. Already scoring Islander second goals as Charlottetown regained the lead for second times in the game, Aquin scored home team fourth goal in an empty net shooting the puck from his own territory. Quarterfinal series is now 2-1 with game five on Saturday afternoon before series transfer back to Quebec for game six and maybe seven on next Monday and Tuesday.

Game five of quarterfinal series between Quebec and Charlottetown will be Saturday afternoon in Charlottetown.
