CCM USHL players of the week – week 3 USHL scoring leader & 2016 NHL Draft eligible goaltender take honors

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 3 of the 2015-16 season. USHL points co-leader and assists leader Grant Jozefek and 2015 tender Brannon McManus were named Co-Forward of the Week, while defenseman Christian Evers and 2016 NHL Draft eligible goaltender Ryan Edquist took home honors as well. Co-Forward: Grant Jozefek – Lincoln Stars
2 GP: 1 goal, 3 assists, +3 rating

Jozefek continued his dominating offensive play this season by extending his point streak to five games. Jozefek has scored a point in every Lincoln Stars game this season, and has nine points (1g 8a) in five games. Jozefek is tied with teammate Ludvig Hoff and Chicago Steel’s Tanner Laczynski for the USHL scoring lead at nine points, and leads the league in assists with eight helpers. The Chester, NJ native is committed to play college hockey at Northeastern University and previously played for the New Jersey Avalanche.

Co-Forward: Brannon McManus – Omaha Lancers
2 GP: 2 goals, 2 assists, +4 rating

McManus scored his first USHL goal for the Omaha Lancers Saturday by forcing a turnover and starting a give-and-go for the tally. He would then follow up the effort with another goal coming from smart puck possession in the slot. McManus was a 2015 USHL tender by the Omaha Lancers and is currently skating in his rookie season. McManus is committed to play college hockey at the University of Minnesota and previously played for Shattuck St. Mary’s.

Defenseman: Christian Evers – Lincoln Stars
2 GP: 0 goals, 4 assists, +3 rating

Evers dished out four assists Saturday night in Lincoln’s 4-1 victory. The defenseman is skating in his third USHL season after playing two years with Team USA. The 2015 USHL Draft Phase II first overall pick has five assists on the season, placing him atop the USHL scoring lead for defenseman with five points. Evers is committed to play college hockey at the University of North Dakota and previously played for Omaha AAA.

Goaltender: Ryan Edquist – Madison Capitols
1 GP: 1-0-0, 0.00 GAA, 1.000 SV%

Edquist stopped all 40 shots he faced Saturday night, including a 20-shot third period. Edquist and the Capitols would hang on for the 4-0 victory, Edquist’s first win in the USHL. Edquist helped Madison kill off all five power plays in the game. The shutout win came in Edquist’s third USHL appearance and first USHL start, as he improved to 1-0-0 on the season with a 1.08 GAA and .969 SV%. The Lakeville, MN native is committed play college hockey at the University of Minnesota and previously played for Lakeville North High School where he went undefeated in net to win a state championship.
