Ice Flyers edge Mayhem, 2-1, in OT

PENSACOLA, FLA. – Amidst a night of celebration featuring multiple arena upgrades, a fresh coaching staff, and an energetic crowd of 5,274 fans, the Ice Flyers found a way to grind out a victory in what proved to be a hard-fought battle.

Ice Flyers forward Matt Wiesner opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period. The second period remained scoreless. In the third period, Macon forward Matteo Ybarra tied the game. The contest remained tight through regulation and overtime, ultimately requiring a shootout to decide the winner.

In the sixth round of the shootout, Lukas Jirousek stepped up and delivered the game-winning goal, sending the home crowd into a frenzy and giving the Ice Flyers a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Mayhem. It was the perfect way to christen the new era of Ice Flyers hockey as the team celebrates 30 years of hockey in Pensacola.

Shane Bull Returns to the Ice Flyers for the 2025-26 Season

PENSACOLA, FL – Head Coach Jeremy Gates and the Pensacola Ice Flyers are proud to announce the signing of forward Shane Bull for the 2025-26 season.

“We are thrilled to welcome Shane back to the Ice Flyers. He is a player that takes pride in all facets of his game and brings leadership and accountability to our dressing room. His frame allows him to create space as well as get to the dirty areas of the ice to create. We look forward to getting to work with him.” said Head Coach Jeremy Gates.

Bull, a left-handed forward, re-joins the Ice Flyers after spending part of the 2024-25 season in Pensacola before being called up to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). During his time with the Ice Flyers in 2024-25, Bull recorded 12 points with 5 goals and 7 assists across 21 games played.

In the 2023-24 season, Bull began his professional career with the Adirondack Thunder (ECHL) following a four-year collegiate career at SUNY Oswego (NCAA DIII).

Now, with two seasons of ECHL experience, Bull returns to Pensacola ready to make an impact. When asked what he’s most looking forward to, Bull said, “Reaching the end goal for the best fanbase in the SPHL.”

Ice Flyers Sign Former Presidents Cup Champion, Ethan Price

PENSACOLA, FL – The Pensacola Ice Flyers and forward Ethan Price have agreed to terms for the 2025-26 season.

“It is always great when you can add a recent Champion to your team. Ethan joined the league late last season and was an important piece to winning the SPHL Championship. His versatility to play up and down the lineup and pushes the players around him. We look forward to welcoming him to Pensacola.” said Head Coach Jeremy Gates.

Price, a right-handed RW/C, joins the Ice Flyers following his President’s Cup championship run with the Evansville Thunderbolts. He appeared in 13 games with the team but made an unforgettable impact, assisting on the overtime game-winner to secure the President’s Cup.

Before his time in the SPHL, Price competed in France2 and in the ECHL with the Worcester Railers. He brings in a wealth of experience to help elevate the Ice Flyers moving forward.

When asked how he would describe himself to Ice Flyer Nation, Price said, “I’m a strong two-way forward who competes hard every shift.” He added, “Outside of hockey, I’m an authentic, outgoing guy who values faith and family.”

Ice Flyers Announce the Signing of Goaltender Logan Flodell

PENSACOLA, FL – The Pensacola Ice Flyers and goaltender Logan Flodell have agreed to terms for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

“We’re excited to bring Logan Flodell to Pensacola. Between his competitiveness and his valuable experience, we believe he has the tools to make an immediate impact. Logan will give us stability in net and will push our standards as an organization. We see him fitting not just as a goaltender, but as a key part of our culture,” said Head Coach Jeremy Gates.

Flodell, a Saskatchewan native, joins the Ice Flyers after spending time overseas in the EIHL, AIHL, and most recently the CEHL. Prior to Flodell’s time overseas, he moved between the ECHL and AHL. Now 28 years old, Flodell has gained a surplus of experience across many leagues that he looks to bring into the Ice Flyers organization.

After catching up with Flodell following his signing, he stated “I couldn’t be happier to join the club and looking forward to seeing the fan base.”

Ice Flyers Sign Point Scoring Forward Zack Bross

PENSACOLA, FL – Head Coach Jeremy Gates and the Pensacola Ice Flyers have agreed to terms for the 2025-26 season with Forward Zack Bross.

“We are excited about Zack coming to Pensacola. He has a high hockey IQ and provides a veteran presence to his game and our locker room. The leadership he provides our team on and off the ice are just one reason Justin and I are excited for training camp to get started,” said Head Coach Jeremy Gates.

Bross, a 6’0” right-handed forward, joins the Ice Flyers following his time in France2 with Strasbourg. Last season, he put up 39 points (13g, 26a) across 41 games, including 16 points (5g, 11a) during Strasbourg’s 13-game playoff run.

Prior to Bross heading overseas, he began his college career at UMass-Boston then transferred to Long Island University, where he was named captain in his senior year. Following his collegiate career, Bross played in the ECHL with the Worcester Railers.

Now returning to the States, Zack Bross brings his skills and international experience back to the Ice Flyers. When asked what Ice Flyers nation should expect from him as a player, Bross didn’t hesitate:

“A player with an edge. I have fun getting under people’s skin and love nothing more than to finish a hit or score a goal and then smile and laugh all the way back to the bench.”

Ice Flyers Strengthen Scoring Attack with Signing of Sam Rhodes

PENSACOLA, FL – The Pensacola Ice Flyers and Head Coach Jeremy Gates announced the signing of left winger Sam Rhodes today for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

“Sam brings a scoring punch to our offense. He will hunt pucks, retrieve them and make plays. He is willing to use his speed and shiftiness to get to dirty areas and can finish. His progression in pro hockey will open more opportunities for him to show his ability. I look forward to getting on the ice with him. ” said Gates.

Rhodes, a 5’9” left winger, signed with the Ice Flyers after wrapping up his collegiate career and time in the ECHL. He appeared in 112 games during his time at Wilfrid Laurier University, in Ontario, scoring 35 goals and 39 assists, equaling 74 points. He was awarded the 2024/25 Team MVP in his senior season, a testament to his skillset and leadership. After wrapping up his collegiate career, Rhodes was signed with the ECHL’s Indy Fuel to help close out their season.

Rhodes is excited to get into Pensacola and begin working, stating, “I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to play in Pensacola and would love to see the Bay Center rocking on Opening Night. I am going to do whatever I can to help the team win a championship this season.”
