In Los Angeles, Jeff Carter kept the fire going for the Kings when scored in overtime to lift LA to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
“He definitely has his mojo going right now,” said left wing Tanner Pearson. “This is Jeff Carter and we know how he plays. He is rolling right now, but we have to keep on doing our thing and he’ll keep on doing his.”
Alec Martinez scored in regulation for the Kings.

Patrick Kane scored the Chicago goal.
Scott Darling made 27 saves in the loss.
“There’s probably two games where we could have played better, Winnipeg and Edmonton,” Darling said. “Other than that, I thought we really had quite a good effort every night. Tonight too, especially without the best player in the world, Jonathan Toews. The guys stepped up and they really filled the gap there.”
The game featured the return of Marian Gaborik from injury; he had sustained a broken foot earlier in the season.
“He got better as the game went on. I think it’s going to take some time. It’s nine weeks … it’s going to take some time,” Kings head coach Darryl Sutter said.
Peter Budaj made 18 saves for the win.
