retiring.

He scored a goal in the shootout.

“It does feel good when you think about it,” he said. “It was special. First time I lifted the [Stanley] Cup was in Philly [in 2010 with the Chicago Blackhawks]. To end it here was nice. Kind of think of all the memories and all the support and people that helped, it’s really a moment that rushes in at once.”

The decision to retire was a personal one and one driven by health concerns not to be discussed here.

Brock McGinn struck for two goals for the Canes and Sebastian Aho also scored for for Carolina.

Eddie Lack made 41 saves to pick up the season-ending win.

Dale Weise scored twice and Wayne Simmonds netted a goal for the Flyers.

“It was very frustrating,” Claude Giroux said. “Some games during the year we had a lot of confidence playing our game and if we would have played like that the whole year we would have been more successful than we are right now.”
