Carolina double up Blue Jackets, 4-2 Martin makes 20 saves in win - Update to follow

In Columbus, the visiting Carolina Hurricanes dropped a 4-2 loss on the Blue Jackets on Thursday night. Spencer Martin made 20 saves in the win.

The Hurricanes moved to 36-18-6 off their sixth win in their last eight games.

After a scoreless opening stanza, the Canes broke out to a 2-0 lead in the middle frame.

, Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis also scored for the Hurricanes (36-18-6), who are 6-1-1 in their past eight games. Spencer Martin made 20 saves.

Alexander Nylander had a goal and an assist, and Cole Sillinger scored for the Blue Jackets (19-30-10), who lost 4-1 at the New York Rangers on Wednesday. Daniil Tarasov made 30 saves.

Teauvo Teravainen opened the scoring with 53 seconds gone in the second for a 1-0 lead to Carolina.

Sebastian Aho pushed the advantage to 2-0 when his shot deflected off a Columbus defenseman at 8:19.

The Blue Jackets replied with a marker, off an odd man rush, from Cole Sillinger midway through the second for a 2-1 deficit.

The Canes answered that with a goal from Brady Skjei at 16:30 for a 3-1 lead headed to the third period.

Columbus dropped to 19-30-10.

In the third, Columbus tried to rally back off a power play goal from Alexander Nylander at 8:41 to cut the deficit back to one at 3-2.

The Hurricanes sealed the win with an empty-net strike by Seth Jarvis with 15 seconds left on the game clock for the 4-2 final count on the scoreboard.

Daniil Tarasov made 30 saves in the loss.
