Cardiff keep in touch with leaders

Cardiff Devils picked up a shutout win in Fife over the Flyers to make it a perfect weekend of results and stay in the race behind the league leaders.

“We came out really hot, started to slip a bit towards the end, myself included, but we got it done,” summarised Devils’ Christian Stoever. “We’re beating teams we need to beat and if we can keep doing that we should be good.”

A nice passing play saw Jimmy Oligny finish from a Brandon Estes feed to open the scoring at 15:20.

Riley Brandt doubled the Devils’ advantage 1:41 into period two. Kohen Olischefski was ejected for a check to the head before the period was out.

Estes then added a third 3:53 into period three to put the visitors in control.

Fife got two goals back within three minutes of each other to make it a one-goal game heading into the final 1:57. However, Ryan Barrow scored into the empty net to wrap up the game, followed by a scrum which saw all ten players on the ice receive misconduct penalties.
