Nottingham Panthers were beaten 4-1 by Cardiff Devils in the Elite League in South Wales on Saturday night.
Chase Pearson missed the game as he continues his recovery from injury while Matt Marcinew was unavailable because of personal reasons.
Jason Grande started between the pipes with Kevin Carr as back-up.
Harris scores for Panthers before Devils equalise
Grande made a good save to deny Joey Martin on an early first-period Devils powerplay, before Brendan Harris and Didrik Henbrant went close when Panthers had the man-advantage.
Cooper Zech fed Harris who fired Panthers ahead on the powerplay from the top of the right-circle (13:51).
But Cardiff hit back within three minutes as Kristoff Kontos found Riley Brandt to equalise from the slot (16:48).
Cardiff lead after two periods
Grande makde an outstanding pad save to deny Evan Mosey on Devils two-on-one break, but the hosts went ahead through Joey Martin’s backhand top-shelf rebound from close-range (24:38).
Panthers superbly killed-off three successive Cardiff powerplays in succession and Grande made big saves on Brett Perlini and Ryan Barrow.
Devils secure the two points
Cardiff stretched their lead when Brandon Estes cut inside off the right-wing and went backhand past Grande (42:56).
Grande made two huge saves to turn away efforts from Brandt and Cole Sanford and at the other end, Panthers continued to push for a way back into the game with chances for Fossier, Harris and Josh Tetlow.
Panthers lifted Grande for the extra skater and peppered the Devils goal on the six-on-five, with Bowns making huge stops to deny Harris and Matt Alfaro, but the hosts wrapped the game up as Martin scored into the empty net for his second of the night (58:29).
