They haven’t faced each other since last season’s Playoff Final, but the Cardiff Devils and Nottingham Panthers will renew acquaintances this Friday night at the Vindico Arena in the final weekend of pre-season action.
In just over a week’s time the sides will meet again in Nottingham, this time with Challenge Cup points on the line. Friday’s clash in Cardiff, however, serves as the penultimate warm-up game for both clubs ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The Devils have been on the ice longer than any other EIHL team. Over the past three weeks they recorded back-to-back victories over Gap, suffered a narrow defeat to Concordia Stingers, and last weekend fell twice to Sheffield – once in overtime and once in a shootout.
Nottingham, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in exhibition play. The Panthers have taken pre-season wins against Concordia, Manchester, and Amiens, and will look to continue that form as the competitive action draws closer.
