Cardiff and Nottingham looking to close gap on Friday night

It’s Friday night, and that brings us two games in Week 22 of the 2025/26 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

Cardiff Devils sit second overall but are four points off top spot having played a game more. They host sixth-placed Guildford Flames, who are tied with Coventry Blaze on 37 points in the middle of the pack. The Flames won both games when these teams met over New Year. It will be a special game for Ben Davies, who is scheduled to ice in his 1,000th Elite League fixture.

In Glasgow, eighth-placed Glasgow Clan welcome third-placed Nottingham Panthers back to Braehead. Clan came out winners when the teams met in the same fixture just over a week ago, but defeats since then have seen them fall four points behind the teams above them. They are now only 11 points clear inside a playoff place. The Panthers are five points behind leaders Belfast Giants having played an equal number of games. They bounced back from two losses with a road win in Cardiff last Sunday.
