In Washington, DC Wednesday night, it was deja vu all over again as the Capitals dispatched the Vegas Golden Knights, 5-2.
Evgeny Kuznetsov had a goal and four points in the effort for the Caps.
Braden Holtby made 29 saves for the win and Alex Ovechkin scored twice in the win.
“Right now for us, we just want to continue to play like that because it’s fun,” Ovechkin said. “It’s fun to be out there.”
Nicklas Backstrom also scored for the Caps.
“It’s all about the skill. [Kuznetsov] knows when to pass. He knows when to shoot. Sometimes he tries to make crazy pass. You think, ‘What’s he doing?’ But he [has] his own mind,” Ovechkin said of his linemate.
Cody Eakin and Reilly Smith scored for the Knights who dropped to 1-3-0 and are quite mortal to start the season.
“It’s a long year and we have to figure out things quick,” defenseman Shea Theodore said. “Our goal is from this road trip you want to be a .500 team, and when we’re playing like this that’s not going to happen.”
T.J. Oshie scored an empty-net goal to close out the scoring.
“I think [Kuznetsov is] up there with the top five players in the League,” Oshie said. “He just doesn’t get the recognition for some reason. But you come watch a game, there’s certain players that get people out of their seats and it’s a joy to watch.”

Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves in the loss.
“The score wasn’t [equal] to the game that much. We hit a lot of posts, four. We had the puck a lot. That was probably one of our better games so far,” Fleury said after the game.
