WASHINGTON, D. C. – After nabbing a defenseman with their first pick in PHN’s mock draft ( Jacob Trouba, 11th overall) , the Washington Capitals seek help on the right side, where Troy Brouwer is the only forward with more than 10 goals. And though it’s beginning to sound like a broken record, the team will look to a skilled European forward to fill its needs.

Sebastian Collberg is a goal-scorer who impressed many scouts with his performance for gold-medal-winning Sweden at the World Junior U20s. He’s also a somewhat undersized project who would benefit from a few years in North America with a playmaking center.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward tallied 9 goals and 17 points in 21 games for Frolunda U20 and had four goals and seven assists in six games at the U20 championship. At the U18 WJC, he notched four goals and nine points in six games, as Sweden advanced to the finals before falling to the United States.

His performance in pressure situations and status as third-ranked European skater in Central Scouting’s final rankings should overcome concerns about his physicality, at least for the Capitals. For those reasons, we should expect to hear the following announcement on draft day.
