Cap[ital Gazette 5 Honored in Charity Hockey Event

Annapolis, MD: On Saturday night, April 20, the Annapolis Heroes Classic took place at the Bridage Sports Complex. The game between the Annapolis Chiefs and the Anne Arundel Pickheads was a benefit for the Capital Gazette Tragedy. The game was dedicated to the victims of the June 28 Capital Gazette shooting. The two teams are comprised of players from public safety, first responders and military personnel.

While the Pickheads came away with bragging rights, as they defeated the Chiefs 11-4, it was secondary to the spirit of the evening. As stated in the program: “The mission of the Annapolis Heroes Classic is to provide a quality, fast paced hockey event in the State Capitol every spring, with proceeds benefitting a different charity each year. With this event we hope to build camaraderie and promote good will for the Annapolis and Anne Arundel community.”

Here are some highlights from the game.
