Cape Breton rout Quebec Dublois earns first star with three points

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — having lost their first meeting in Quebec City Cape Breton left no chance to their opponent on Saturday night winning 7-2. Pierre-Luc Dubois with one goal and two assists played very strong game earning the first stars of the game.

Opportunistic Cape Breton ended the first period leading by three. Screaming Eagles opened the scoring with just 16 seconds gone on the clock. Cape Breton took advantage of second Quebec turnover as defenseman Dakota Woods missed his shot attempt at the offensive blue line. Colin MacSween pick the puck going on breakaway beating Quebec netminder on stick side with 13:41 to play in first period.

Playing in front of parent and friends coming to see him play Derek Gentile broke the ice for Quebec with first Remparts goal. Using his speed Quebec center Auguste Impose gets in offensive zone passing the puck to Gentile who scores his third of the regular season at 7:4. Hi wrist shot beat Alexandre Belanger high on right side.

Ranked fifth with a man advantage at 22 percent with 31 goals scored in 141 attempts Quebec wasn’t able to take advantage of the only power play in the first period.

Cape Breton scored their third goal as the shot from Pierre-Luc Dubois who came from behind Quebec net saw his shot hit Quebec defenseman Aaron Dutra before going in at 14:42.

A fight broke out between Jordan Ty Fournier of Cape Breton and Yanick Turcotte of Quebec as Quebec winger ended with the edge.

The Eagles came back with their fourth goal with only 6.5 seconds left on the clock. Losing the puck Quebec left winger Dmytro Timashov saw Loik Leveiller going on breakaway beating Quebec goalie Julian Galloway who came in the game after Labrecque has been pulled out after allowing 3 goals on first 9 Cape Breton shots on goal.

Only one goal was scored in second period, the second in the game by Pierre-Luc Dubois 1:16 into the middle frame.

Quebec ended the second period playing on their third power plays in the game but the Screaming Eagles killed it without real danger. Stealing the puck from Quebec defenseman Ross MacDougall Dubois came from behind the net beat Quebec goalie on right side.

Cape Breton opens the third period adding a sixth goals leading by five over the Quebec Remparts. Winning the face-off Dubois pass to Maxim Lazarev beating Quebec goalie on his right side with a precise wrist shot with 11:14 left in third period.

Already 0-for-3 with a man advantage Quebec scored their only power play goal their second in the game as defenseman Nikolas Brouillard shot from the point deflected on Cape Breton players before going in with 9:31 remaining.

Cape Breton came back adding a seventh goals also the only one playing with a man up. Losing the puck behind his own net Quebec netminder Galloway saw Dubois picking up the puck making a pass to Cole Reginato who only had to push it in an empty net at 13:31.
