One after breaking their losing streak with a win over the hapless New York Rangers, the Los Angeles Kings reverted to their current form and dropped a 6-2 decision to the Canucks in Vancouver.
A four-goal first period for Vancouver was enough to put the Kings on their heels the rest of the way.
The Vancouver offense was driven in large part, by the two-goal efforts of Brock Boeser and Loui Eriksson.
“We played great in the beginning and had some good chances, and the puck went in for us,” Eriksson said. “It was definitely nice to get a good start and get the win.”
Vancouver improved to 19-23-6 with the win.
Anze Kopitar and Alex Iafallo scored for LA.
The loss dropped the Kings to 25-18-5 as they have now lost seven of eight and should be thankful the Rangers paid a visit to keep that streak from being eight.
Jacob Markstrom made 30 saves to pick up the win.
“Total reluctance to follow a game plan,” Kings head coach John Stevens said. “They came in ready to check and play hard on pucks, and we tried to play a rush game and allowed people to get behind us.”
Thomas Vanek and Sven Baertschi also scored for the Canucks.

Jonathan Quick got the start the Kings but was given the hook after yielding five goals and making just 14 saves.
Darcy Kuemper made 16 saves in relief after coming into the game in the middle frame.
“Our two best players in the game were our goalies,” Stevens said. “Not often you say that when you lose 6-2, but that’s what it sums up to.”
