Canucks stun Bruins in OT, 2-1

In Vancouver these days, dogs and cats are s;sleeping together and the Canucks are posting victories on the young season.

Saturday night, they got an overtime goal from Bo Horvat in a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

The game-winner came off a turn over in the neutral zone at the end of a shift.

“For Brock to get that puck back to me definitely was a heck of a play,” Horvat said. “It’s not easy coming off a (six-game), 14-day road trip and coming back and playing a team like that, and I thought we did a great job.”

Seconds before the turnover, the Canucks bench was screaming for a line change.

“Screaming at them to change, then telling them great job after the goal,” head coach Travis Green said. “They had a little juice left. Guys usually find some juice when there’s a chance to score. So I was happy they stayed.”

Brandon Sutter gave the Canucks a first period.

“My first four years, I [stunk] in overtime. It’s definitely something I wanted to be better at this year. Brock and I have some good chemistry out there and thankfully the pucks are going in right now,” Horvat said after the game.

Jacob Markstrom made 30 saves for the win.

“He was dialed in, boy,” Green said of Markstrom. “He looked sharp, looked focused.”

Joakim Nordstrom scored the lone Bruins goal.

Jaroslav Halak. made 20 saves in the loss.

“When you are in overtime and your goalie doesn’t stand on his head to get you there, then usually you have played well enough,” Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said. “I thought their goalie was really good, made some big saves for them. Our power play finally generated some stuff that we couldn’t get behind him, so I give him a lot of credit. It easily could have gone our way.”
