Canucks make it seven straight

In Anaheim, the Vancouver Canucks showed no slow down coming out out of the NHL COVID-19 protocol on Wednesday.

J.T. Miller hit for the game-winner when he broke in on net with 26 seconds gone in extra time for a 2-1 win over the Ducks.

“We are rounding into a more complete game right now,” Miller said. “We are finding ways to win. That’s a hard game for us to come off a two-week break.”

The Canucks have won seven straight under Bruce Boudreau as head coach.

Thatcher Demko made 22 saves in the Vancouver win.

Sam Carrick was the Ducks’ striker.

“I think we were all super excited to get back out here,” Carrick said. “Everything that’s going on, a lot of distractions, so it’s nice to just come out and play in front of our fans, especially. It was a long time coming, for sure, it was a long break, but we’re happy to be back.”

Anaheim dropped to 7-9-7.

“It was important for everyone to get into the game early,” Carrick said. “Whether it was hitting a guy, or getting hit, or just having a good cycle shift down low.”

Tanner Pearson hit for the Canucks’ goal in regulation.

Vancouver clawed back to .500 with the win at 15-15-2.

John Gibson made 35 saves in the Ducks loss.

“[Gibson] kind of got us the point tonight,” the Ducks’ Jakob Silfverberg said. “They had some really good scoring chances, a couple 2-on-1s where he made some huge saves for us to keep us in the game.”
