PHILADELPHIA – The Flyers are in a tailspin these days. The club has lost five straight, three in regulation, to drop to 8-9-4 on the season.
The latest loss was a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks Tuesday night.

Left Wing Michael Raffl (#12) and Center Nolan Patrick (#19) of the Philadelphia Flyers look for the shot along with Right Wing Brock Boeser (#6), Goalie Jacob Markstrom (#25) and Defenseman Alex Biega (#55) of the Vancouver Canucks.
Canucks rookie Brock Boeser struck for two goals, once on the power play, in the win.
“His shot is unreal,” Daniel Sedin, who had a strike in the game, said.
Sven Baertschi and Loui Eriksson also scored for Vancouver.
“It’s been amazing watching him. It’s obviously a treat playing on a line with him. He’s dangerous and he gets the puck to the net from every corner of the ice. And it’s hard and accurate,” the Canucks’ Sven Baertschi saud of Boeser.
Boeser’s two goals give him nine on the season.
“Boeser, everything he touches right now goes in,” Jakob Markstrom said. “It’s really good.”
Markstrom made 36 saves to get the win.
The Flyers had a 1-0 lead on a goal from Ivan Provorov.
“I don’t think we’re playing bad hockey,” Sean Couturier said . “It’s just little details that are costing us games right now. I think the PK needs to be better.”
Jakub Voracek also scored for Philadelphia.

Michal Neuvirth got the start for the Flyers, his first since earlier in the month, and was given the hook after yielding four goals on 22 shots.
“Once it gets to four, it’s tough to get out of that hole,” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said. “Our guys tied in the third period, but I think the change after three (goals) maybe would’ve been the spark our team needed.”
Brian Elliott mopped up in relief and made 13 saves.
