Canucks end skid in LA with 4-2 win

In Los Angeles, it just goes from worse to dreadful to why.

On Saturday, Jacob Markstrom made 20 saves  to help the Vancouver Canucks defeat the Kings, 4-2, and stop an eight-game skid.

Elias Pettersson struck for a goal and two points in the win.

“It’s always nice to get the winning goal,” Pettersson said. “We had too many losses in a row, so it’s nice to be back on the winning side. We played good tonight.”

Matt Luff scored for LA and Drew Doughty had a power play goal, ending a drought of 16 straight Kings’ power plays without a goal.

The loss dropped the kings to 7-14-1.

They are 2-6-0 in their eight games and slowly losing sight of the rest of the Pacific Division.

Adam Gaudette (first NHL goal), Sam Gagner and Tyler Motte also scored for the Canucks.

“It felt good to get the monkey off the back there,” said Gaudette, who was playing his 25th NHL game. “I just came off the bench and went hard to the net and it went in. … I think it happened pretty fast. I didn’t really process it right away but it’s a great feeling, and it’s a relief to get that first one for sure, and hopefully they start coming in bunches now.”
