In Anaheim Sunday night, Richard Bachman made 43 saves to guide the Vancouver Canucks to a 2-1 win over the Ducks.
“I was making good reads and it felt good to shut the door late,” Bachman said. “The team was great in front of me. This was a total team win.”
The win pushed the Canucks to within six points of the second wild card spot currently held by the St Louis Blues.
Bo Horvat and Markus Granlund struck for the Canucks as Vancouver improved to 28-30-7,
“We battled. We won the 1-on-1 battles, and it made the difference,” Granlund said.
Patrick Eaves was the lone goal scorer for the Ducks.
The loss hurt the Ducks as the San Jose Sharks lost to the Minnesota Wild Sunday.
The Canucks built a 2-0 lead heading into the third period and were the fresher team despite being on the back end of a two games in two nights run.
“You catch a team on the second night of a back-to-back, you want to make them earn it. We woke up in the third and it was too late,” Anaheim’s Cam Fowler said.
