In a game they were outshot 44-15, the Vancouver Canucks rode a 40-save effort from Ryan Miller to a 5-4 win in overtime over the Chicago Blackhawks Tuesday.
Daniel Sedin struck on the power play for the Canucks with 2:12 gone in extra time for
the winner.
Henrik Sedin had a goal, Brandon Sutter potted two goals and Reid Boucher scored for the Canucks.
“It helps to get a win,” Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins said. “This is a tough team to get a win against. We had a pretty good game [at the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday]. We’ve had a couple good games and we haven’t [gotten] rewarded. Maybe we stole one here tonight. It was nice to get rewarded.”
Ryan Hartman scored two goals for the Hawks who needed a third period rally to get the loser’s point.
Hartman, Marian Hossa, Richard Panik scored three straight to tie the game 4-4.
“We know in any situation, no matter how much time is on the clock and how much we’re down by, we can always make a push back, get the momentum and get the fans behind us, especially at home,” Hartman said. “We can make a big push and do what we did tonight and the other night.”
