STOCKTON, Calif. – The Vancouver Canucks found a way to keep their dream alive at home, by edging out the Flames in a 2-1 victory. The Flames still lead the series 3-2, so Vancouver remains in a must win situation.
The Flames’ David Jones scored the only goal of the first period at 2:40. Matt Stajan earned an assist from the play. Jones gloved the puck from the air and then slapped it towards the net. The puck appeared to bounce off the post into the net.
Calgary’s Nick Bonino evened the score at 13:31 into the second period, on a one-timer that went past Jonas Hiller in the net The two teams remained tied for the duration of the second period.
At 1:47 into the opening of the final period, Daniel Sedin scored the ultimate winning goal.
The Canucks hammered away at Hiller throughout the game, outshooting the Flames 43-21.
The Flames will have another chance at home to get the job done in game six on Saturday, April 25.
