ABBOTSFORD, BC – On Monday, the Vancouver Canucks announced the twelve players that are invited to participate in the annual rookie camp on Friday Sept. 17.
The most attractive name on that list is Vasily Podkolzin. The hulking right-winger from Russia will be skating in his first Canucks camp since being drafted tenth overall by Vancouver in 2019. Chances are he will not be playing in Abbotsford this season.
Other attendees include goaltender Arturs Silvos, who got into only one AHL game last season and looks to be slotted in Abbotsford behind Michael DiPietro. On defense, Alex Kannok Leipert and Jett Woo will be at camp, and will most likely be Abbotsford Canucks after main camp is done.
The forward group consists of eight players. Abbotsford Canucks fans will be watching Ethan Keppen, Tristen Nielsen and Chase Wouters as those three players have AHL contracts this upcoming season. A dark horse to end up in Abby is forward Danila Klimovich, but he is more than likely QMJHL bound.
