Canes upend Boston in OT, 4-3 Aho scores two including winner

In Raleigh, the Carolina Hurricanes got two goals from rookie Sebastian Aho, including the game-winner in an overtime, 4-3, win over the Boston Bruins Sunday.

“I felt like he was going to have a hot stick there, so I just gave him the puck,” Teuvo Teravainen, who dished the assist on the winner, said. “We think the game the same way, and we’re trying to play fast and forecheck hard. When we work hard, we’re going to get lots of loose pucks.”

Cam Ward made 32 saves for the Canes who improved to 18-15-7.

“Just the steady progression in [Sebastian Aho’s] development, hanging on to pucks, looking to make plays, looking to get his own shot,” Carolina head coach Bill Peters said. “It would be nice if he became a little more selfish and took it to the net a little bit more, but he’s a 19-year-old kid, and his progression is right where you would expect it.”

Derek Ryan and Jay McClement also had goals for the Hurricanes.

Zane McIntyre made 26 saves in the loss for the Bruins  who dropped to 21-17-5.

Tim Schaller, David Backes and Brad Marchand scored for Boston.

“It was one of those momentum-shift games, and in the third period, I thought we came hard and played really well. You could tell we wanted to win the game. When you play back-to-backs, you need everybody going, and tonight we didn’t have everyone going.” Boston head coach Claude Julien said.
