In Winnipeg, Tomas Tatar erased an early 0-1 deficit for the visiting Montreal Canadiens with two goals as the Habs went on to a 6-2 win over the Jets on Monday night.
Carey Price made 27 saves in the Canadiens win.
“I thought we really had a hard time finding our legs in that first 10 minutes, and they were taking the play to us,” Canadiens coach Claude Julien said. “It just seemed that the second half of the first [period] we started finding our legs, and I thought we started playing better.”
Kyle Connor staked the Jets to the early lead and Patrik Laine added a so what goal later.
“We like our first [period],” Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice said. “I’m not saying we’re dominating, but their guy made some saves, and it’s a real good hockey game. A tough break at 3-1, and then a couple of mistakes and now you’re reeling a little bit. It snowballed on us a little bit there in the second.”
Phillip Danault also struck twice for the Habs.
“We started the game bad, but we all stepped up,” Danault said. “We played better defensively, and [Price] made some big saves. We tied up defensively, and we got better offensively as well. We capitalized, so that was the game today.”
Max Domi and Artturi Lehkonen added single markers for Montreal.
“Over this road trip, we’ve had a lot of that,” the Canadiens’ Nick Suzuki said. “People from all over Canada are big Habs fans, so it’s awesome to have their support on the road.”

Laurent Brossoit made 42 saves in the loss.
“By not watching it again,” Maurice said. “It’s not how we play. We had a tough period of hockey. We ground through the third period. There won’t be an autopsy on this game.”
