Campbell, Kings shut out Montreal, 3-0

In Montreal Thursday night, the Los Angeles Kings got a 40-save effort from Jack Campbell in a 3-0 win over the Canadiens.

“I thought he was really seeing the puck well, he was really tracking it well,” Los Angeles coach John Stevens said. “It really kind of stabilizes your team, especially on the road when a team like Montreal comes hard. So he was terrific tonight.”

The Kings offense came from Jeff Carter, Adrian Kempe and Michael Amadio.

The Kings’  defense kept the Habs to the outside most of the night and was faster to the puck than the Canadiens.

“We definitely have to move the puck quicker,” Montreal coach Claude Julien said. “And then when you get those shooting opportunities, you’ve got to shoot. I think there were times tonight where I felt our guys were trying to force those cross passes instead of maybe just put pucks at the net and trying to jump on those loose pucks.”

Jaret Anderson-Dolan picked up an assist on the night for his first career NHL point.

“It felt great,” Anderson-Dolan said. “That’s kind of the way I’m going to create chances, is getting in hard on the forecheck and being tenacious on the puck, and I was able to do that.”

Carey Price made 26 saves in the loss.

“We came out of the gates a little bit slow, so we were playing catch-up. And sometimes when you play catch-up like that, the bounces don’t go your way. So it’s important to start on time in this League against a team like that,” Max Domi said after the loss.
