In Newark Sunday, the San Jose Sharks ended a four-skid with a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.
Brent Burns scored two goals in the victory; he now has 24 goals on the season.
“[Burns] is the best player on the ice every night; it doesn’t matter who we play,” Sharks center Joe Thornton said. “He does it night in, night out and it’s very impressive to watch.”
Thornton and Tomas Hertl also scored for San Jose.
Martin Jones made 21 saves for the win as the Sharks improved to 34-18-5.
They salvaged one win in the four-game roadie going 1-1-2.
“I thought we managed the puck well, we didn’t turn it over or give up the odd-man rushes especially in the third period,” Jones said.

The Devils lone goal came from PA Parenteau .
After winning two straight, the Devils could not stay out of the penalty box in the first period and yielded 19 shots on goal.
Cory Schneider made 34 saves for the loss as the Devils dropped back to 23-22-10.
“There’s not many like [Burns], especially from the back end, who can change the course of a game. He can join the rush, stickhandle through the whole team. There are point shots he can make that very few, if any defenseman in the League, can make. We wanted to key on him and make sure he didn’t have an impact on the game. But he did,” Schneider said of Burns.
The second period saw the Sharks break through on three goals off just seven shots.
“The biggest thing was getting traffic in front of Schneider,” Jones said. “You need bodies in front in order for pucks to go in from that distance.”
