Bulldogs sink Monsters, 4-0

CLEVELAND, OHIO – Hamilton Bulldogs forward Daniel Carr scored twice for the second night in a row and led the ‘Dogs (23-18-6-0) to a 4-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters (21-17-4-3) at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday evening.

Carr’s first of the night came on a breakaway with just over two minutes to go in the first period. His 12th goal of the season gave the ‘Dogs a 1-0 lead and was assisted by forward Charles Hudon and defenceman Davis Drewiske. Hamilton Bulldogs logo

After a scoreless second period, Carr added his team-leading 13th goal of the year 2:11 into the third period to give Hamilton a 2-0 lead, with assists from defencemen Bobby Shea and Mac Bennett.

Just over five minutes into the final frame, Bulldogs forward Nick Sorkin ripped a wrist shot from the slot past Monsters goaltender Calvin Pickard for his fifth goal of the season, unassisted, to give the ‘Dogs a 3-0 lead.

At 10:43 of the third period, Hudon was left alone in front of the Lake Erie net and the Hamilton forward buried his 12th goal of the season with a wrist shot, unassisted, to give his club a 4-0 lead.

Mike Condon made 34 saves for the Bulldogs in the win to collect his third shutout of the season, while Pickard stopped 22 of 26 shots faced for the Monsters in the loss.

Hamilton went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Lake Erie was 0-for-2 with a man advantage.
