HAMILTON, ONTARIO – The Bulldogs came home from their travels in Abbotsford with a 3-2 series lead after taking game five on Heat ice.
Game six started quickly with each team playing for the advantage until David Desharnais picked up his 6th goal of the post season at 18:30 of the first period. JT Wyman and Aaron Palushaj added assists on the goal. Through the first twenty minutes of play the Bulldogs had 16 shots and the Heat 12.
Palushaj chipped in on the scoring 6:14 of the third (his second of the playoffs). Desharnais returned the favor on the goal with the primary assist along with Shawn Belle.
Curtis Sanford was stellar in the Bulldogs net as he stopped all 30 hosts from the Heat.
Brock Trotter picked up insurance on the first power play goal of the night at 17:31 of the third. Palushaj added his third point of the night with an assist. For Trotter it was his fifth of the post season. Andre Benoit added an assist on the goal and then scored into an empty net at 18:43 for an unassisted goal.
Abbotsford was 0 for 5 on the power play and the Bulldogs were 1 for 4.
Hamilton now awaits the winner of the Texas Stars and Chicago Wolves game 7 on Tuesday night.
