In Pittsburgh Friday night Peter Budaj did what had seemed I’m[possible.
Budaj stopped 39 shots to shutout the Penguins in a 1-0 for the Los Angeles Kings.
The loss snapped a seven-game win streak for the Pens.
“I was glad I got a chance to play tonight,” Budaj said. “It was a great challenge for our team, especially coming into a hot building. I think they were pretty hot the last 10 games, last seven games, I think they were really, really good. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a big two points for us.”
Tyler Toffoli scored just one minute into the extra session for the winner.
LA has won two games after laying an egg in Buffalo earlier in the week.
“After our game in Buffalo we really wanted to tighten it up and not only do a good job 5-on-5, but on the penalty kill and everything else. Tonight was an example of that and [Budaj] stood on his head. And we got the win,” Toffoli said.
Matt Murray had 27 saves in the loss.
“It doesn’t matter whether there’s 50 shots or 10 shots,” Murray said. “I focus the same way and you worry about stopping the next one. … I’m not out there to score goals. I don’t worry about how many goals we’re going to score because that’s out of my control.”
