COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University’s men’s hockey team got their preseason underway this weekend with a 9-2 thumping of visiting Wilfrid Laurier in an exhibition game.
Dakota Joshua scored twice in the first period to stake the Buckeyes to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
A four-goal second period had Ohio State up 6-1 after 40 minutes of play.
“Any time you go out there and compete against someone you want to win,” Steve Rohlik, Ohio State head coach, said on the OSU hockey web site. “We went out there and we accomplished that. We had four new guys in the lineup and got their feet wet. We did some good things tonight and it was good to compete against somebody else and set the tone for this week.”
Josha ended his night with a hat trick; John Wiitala had two goals and four points on the night.
The regular season opens Friday this week for the Buckeyes who travel to Denver against third-ranked Pioneers.
