Despite taking an early lead at home to Robert Morris, the Ohio State Buckeyes surrendered five straight goals in dropping a 6-2 decision on Friday night. The loss was Ohio State’s first on the season.
Matthew Weis scored his fifth goal of the season for Ohio State, but got battered by the Colonials scored three in the second period and chased goalie Matt Tomkins early in the third as they took a 5-1 lead. Two of Robert Morris’ second period goals came on the power play, as the Buckeyes faltered in killing off both penalties they took.
The two teams tied their rematch in Pittsburgh on Saturday night.
