When asked about the shaky start to the first period, Buckeyes head coach Nadine Muzerall responded “I’m going to push back a little because I thought this was the first game that they actually played a solid three periods. I was very impressed with their puck possession nd their O zone time. We had 18 minutes of offensive zone time five on five”

The Buckeyes started the comeback in the second period tuning the St. Cloud goal into a shooting gallery with 12 shots to St. Clouds four. Emma Maltais notched her fifth goal of the season at 12:44 assisted by forward Jacyn Reeves and forward Charly Dahlquist. Ohio State resumed their relentless attack on the St. Cloud goal. The Buckeyes took 17 shots on goal to the Huskies 8. Field scored the game winner, racking her fifth goal of the season and her second of night.

“Maddie has been putting in the work and the hard time in practice.” said Muzerall. “Sometimes she has that self doubt that she shouldn’t. maybe this will give her the self confidence that she always should be possessing, because she is a great hockey player.”

The Buckeyes shot 45 shots on net overall against St. Clouds 20.

“Forty-five shots on net spoke volumes of us finally getting the puck through traffic and getting them on net.” said Muzerall. “I’m very proud of their effort, and they didn’t quit, and they won with a lot of character.”
