In Chicago, Matt Grzelcyk hit for an overtime goal on Tuesday night to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win over the Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
“We made a good [line] change to start, which is big in OT,” Grzelcyk said. “You want to force turnovers. We got a couple there and held on to the puck. Even if there’s not a whole lot going on, you’re just stressing the other team, just having to stay out there and play ‘D’ a little bit.
“I just wanted to get open for [Hall] and [David Pastrnak]. They’re two unbelievable players, and they’re going to find me. They’re super creative. I wanted to move away from the blue line just a little bit to open up a little space there, and ‘Hallsy’ made a great play at the end.”
Linus Ullmark made 19 saves in the Boston win.
“It gets me a little fired up, obviously, because he’s doing a tremendous job stopping pucks and he’s playing with a lot of energy,” Ullmark said. “And he’s done it for all these years in the League. He’s a great goaltender. That’s it. But admiration, no. But afterwards now, if we were able to look at the game, I would say he was terrific tonight.”
Brandon Hagel twas the lone striker for the Hawks.
Chicago dropped to 22-30-9.
After a scoreless two periods of play, Patrice Bergeron put the Bruins ahead, 1-0, in the third period.
The Bruins moved to 37-18-5.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 46 saves in the Blackhawks loss.
“Yeah, he was outstanding,” Blackhawks coach Derek King said. “I don’t know what else to say about this guy. When he’s on like that, it’s fun to watch. I don’t want to say there were a lot of outside shots, they were easy shots to see, but he made some spectacular saves.
“First game against Boston (a 4-3 loss Thursday), I think we deserved better. Just the way it went. Tonight, I think they deserved better.”
