In Los Angeles, the Kings gave up goals to Zdeno Chara and Charlie McAvoy as the Boston Bruins ended a four-game skid in a 2-1 win.
“I don’t want to say we played desperate, but in our room we really wanted to get a win,” McAvoy said. “It felt like it’s been a while so we put together a complete 60 minutes and we had no passengers tonight.”
Anton Khudobin made 27 saves to pick up the win.
“We want him (McAvoy) to be more involved offensively within his limits,” Boston head coach Bruce Cassidy said. “He has to find out those limits in the league. We’re starting to see a little bit more activity from him. Down some of our scoring, we need it. He’s only going to get better. That’s the scary part.”
Like most of the rest of the NHL, the Kings seem to be returning to an equilibrium these days, having lost four straight at the Staples Center.
Drew Doughty scored the lone Kings goal.
The game featured the debut of Jussi Jokinen to the Kings lineup after a trade with the Calgary Flames.
“It’s tough for him coming in – new team, new city. He had a lot of information the first day, but he looked comfortable out there. He’s a veteran guy that’s got good smarts. I certainly saw lots of things about his game that you like and can help us,” LA head coach John Stevens said after the game.
