Bruins spoil Dallas’ home opener

In Dallas, the were held off by the Boston Bruins in a 2-1 loss.

Tuukka Rask made 28 saves for Boston to get the win.

“I saw the puck pretty well,” Rask said. “I think guys did a good job keeping them on the outside, and then a couple of huge blocks. That was obviously a key. It helps when you see it, and you just try to make yourself big.”

Former Stars Brett Ritchie scored for the Bruins

“It felt good,” said Ritchie, who played 241 games for the Stars from 2014-19. “Any time you can chip in. It was a bit of a scrambly game, but we got the job done and that’s all I really care about.”

Danton Heinen picked up the game-winner.

“I think he (Ritchie) was more excited than I was. Obviously, his old team, coming into this barn, first game of the year, he’s trying to show his teammates he’s a guy that can help us win. He did that,” Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said.

Roope Hintz struck for the Stars only goal.

Joe Pavelski had an assist in his Dallas debut.

“You just keep going,” Pavelski said. “It was a good effort from the guys. We did a lot of good things. We can build off some, just got to find an extra goal out there and everything’s all right.”

Roman Polak was injured in the second period after hitting the boards.  He taken off the ice on a stretcher and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

“The good news is that Roman has full use of his extremities,” Stars coach Jim Montgomery said. “We hear he’s feeling pretty good at the hospital, but we don’t have results yet. We’re hopeful that he may be a player again in a couple of days.”
