Bruins score late in LA for win

It’s starting to get closer to decision time in the NHL, are you a seller or buyer as the trade deadline looms.

For teams not in rebuilding mode, it is almost certainly a time to sell and restock the depleted cupboards.

Such is the case, most likely, in Los Angeles.

On Saturday evening, the Kings lost another one, this time to the Boston Bruins, 4-2, at the Staples Center.

Charlie McAvoy scored with 1:13 left in regulation to snap a 2-2 tie and send the Bruins to the win.

“You’ve got to win in a lot of different ways if you want to be a good hockey club, so tonight it was not that we were behind, but it looked like the game was going to get away from us late there and a quick turn of events it goes our way,” Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said.

Patrice Bergeron added an empty netter late to seal the win.

Tuukka Rask made 23 saves for the win.

“Very proud of how we played in the third,” Rask said. “Even after they tied the game, a few minutes left and then we get a penalty, we did a great job with that penalty kill. It just shows how resilient our group is.”

Alex Iafallo and Ilya Kovalchuk scored for the Kings who dropped to 23-29-6.

Jake DeBrusk and Brad Marchand also scored for the Bruins.

Jack Campbell made 20 saves in the loss.

“We got one power-play goal tonight, which was good, but I don’t think we generated enough off of it. It just didn’t seem like we ever really got set up or had anything going,” Kings head coach Willie Desjardins said.
