Behind multi-goal nights from David Krejci and Brad Marchand the Boston Bruins buried the Detroit Red Wings Wednesday night, 6-1.
The win pushed the Bruins to a record of 35-26-6 as they improved to an impressive 9-3-0 under new head coach Bruce Cassidy.
“We’ve talked about trying not to let those things bother you, bad shifts, bad periods,” Cassidy said. “Now it’s easier said than done, but if you start building that in that we’re not going to harp on what happened yesterday, we’re going to learn from it.”
Under Cassidy, the Bruins are now in possession of the third place in the Atlantic Division and chasing down the Ottawa Senators for the second spot.
Drew Stafford and David Pastrnak also scored for Boston who erupted for four goals in the middle frame.
Tuukka Rask made 26 saves to get the win.
Niklas Kronwall was the lone goal scorer for the Wings.
“It’s no excuse whatsoever. There is no way you can look at that game and say, ‘Well, the younger guys, you know, whatever.’ It starts with the older guys, it starts with myself. I need to be a lot better than that. It really is as simple as that,” Kronwall said.

Jared Coreau got the start for the Red Wings but was given the hook in the first period after yielding three on just eight shots.
Peter Mrazek came into the game in relief.
“It wasn’t on the goalie at all,” Wings head coach Jeff Blashill said. “I needed to slow the game down a bit. Once Pete went in, I thought Pete was playing good. I didn’t think it was fair to put Jared back in at that point. But Jared had nothing to do with it. It was unfortunate for him. I told him that when we pulled him.”
