Bruins hold off Rangers

In New York, Charlie McAvoy and Charlie Coyle helped the Boston Bruins build a 2-0 lead, over the Rangers who pushed Bruins hard in the third period but lost 3-1 to the visitors.

“It was really cool,” McAvoy said. “Growing up and being a big fan of the Rangers and going to games here and everything, that’s special. It’s been fun coming and playing here and we’ve had pretty good success.”

Jaroslav Halak made 25 saves in the win.

“We’re playing really good hockey right now,” Boston’s Brad Marchand said. “It just seems like everybody has kind of found chemistry on their lines and kind of knows where to fit in and we have a healthy team.”

Mika Zibanejad scored off the power play mid way through the third period to get close.

“For the most part, I think we did a lot of good things,” Zibanejad said. “We just couldn’t generate that offensive side that we have been as of late. It’s frustrating.”

Patrice Bergeron added an empty net goal late to seal the win.

“Rolling puck and I think I got some good puck luck there and tried to do what I wanted to do but it didn’t feel pretty,” Coyle said. “I was just hoping that that guy wasn’t going to catch me and just tried to skate and luckily it went in.”

Alexandar Georgiev made 31 saves in the loss.

“I think we were pretty confident going into this game,” Georgiev said. “Obviously tight game today, we had a good battle with Boston and we just have to learn from it and keep playing the way we’ve been playing.”

All this frustration in the Rangers locker room should be addressed by the coaching staff as it happens. Why let this fester in the room when they are up against one of the best teams in the NHL, are the game is not out of reach?
