In Boston, Tuukka Rask made 25 saves and the Bruins defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon.
“We knew what our last couple against these guys what the result has been, so that’s added incentive,” the Bruins’ Charlie Coyle said. “Every point’s huge from here on out, as we all know. And we want to be playing our best hockey heading in here. That’s what we tried to bring tonight, especially against a team who’s had our number. So it definitely feels good to kind of play that way and win playing the right way and feeling good about ourselves.”
Coyle and Charlie McAvoy had goals for the Bruins.
“It’s always fun to contribute that way for sure, it helps the team,” McAvoy said of his second goal of the season. “If we’re able to take a goal like that and then get momentum going and win a game … whatever I can do.”
Darren Helm scored shorthanded to give the Wings an early 1-0 lead.
“The challenge is to make sure they have to work for their chances,” Detroit’s Frans Nielsen said. “And especially in the second period, we made it too easy on them. They got chances because of turnovers or a bad mistake from us. … It’s a great team, but they have to at least work for their chances out there. [Bernier] had a great game, by far our best player on the ice, and we still let up four.”
David Pastrnak (42nd) andPatrice Bergeron (shorthanded) also scored for the Bruins.
“It’s frustrating, it’s disappointing, but we’ve got 20-something games left here that we’ve got to battle through,” the Red Wings’ Luke Glendening said. “It’s easy when things are going badly just to shut it down, but we’ve got 20 games here, guys got a lot to prove, no one’s had a great year here, so we’ve got a lot to prove to ourselves and management and we’ve just got to be proud put that jersey on every day.”

Jonathan Bernier made 37 saves in the loss.
“Like I said even when I was winning, you’ve just got to focus on your own job,” Bernier said. “You can’t let three, four losses in a row get to you, you just got to keep working hard, keep doing your thing and give the best chance for your team to win some hockey games.”
