Bruins extend point streak to 17

In Boston on Tuesday night, the Bruins rallied from a 2-0 deficit to the Carolina Hurricanes and then needed to recover from a Canes’ rally to win, 4-3, in extra time to extend their point streak to 17 games.

“We believe in ourselves,” Boston’s  Jake DeBrusk said. “We always have. But it’s nice to get results, especially this time of year when every point matters.”

Chris Wagner,DeBrusk and Patrice Bergeron (shorthanded) scored regulation goals for the Bruins.

“Earlier in the year, when we weren’t scoring, I don’t know if we would have had the same confidence to get back in the game. Now we know we’re getting our goals, so I think guys stick with it better,” Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said after the game.

Jaroslav Halak made 34 saves in th4e win.

Sebastian Aho struck for two goals for the Canes.

The Canes are tied i points with the Pittsburgh Penguins for third in the Metro Division.

“We did come back,” Carolina head coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “We were down in the third, so it was nice. The effort I thought in the third was great. That was a good period for us. But at the end of the day, we were up and we’ve got to find a way to not let them get back into the game.”

Justin Williams also scored for the Canes.

“They’re going to come with a push,” Williams said. “We’ve got to find ways to lock that down. In the last 10 minutes of the second, they really took it to us. … A lot of things we can clean up.”

Curtis McElhinney made 34 saves in the loss.

“We had a chance to finish the game on the PP many times and couldn’t. In my opinion, that cost us the game,” Aho said.
