Bruins down Wild, 5-3

The forward lines in Boston should be renamed the MASH unit; five forwards are on the sidelines with injuries including leading scorer, Brad Marchand.

Six rookies are skating with the Bruins these days and Monday night it did not hurt them as they won 5-3 over the visiting Minnesota Wild.

“I think a lot of us have been here a couple years, and this is what we’ve been working for and to get the chance now, we really want to grasp it and play our best to help the team in a time where we’ve got some important guys on our team who are not able to play,” Bruins rookie Sean Kuraly said.

Kuraly had a goal in the winning effort.

Tuukka Rask made 24 saves in the win including a penalty shot..

The other Bruins goal came from Jake DeBrusk, Frank Vatrano, Torey Krug and Tim Schaller.

“It’s really frustrating. I think my past few games were some of my better games this year. And sometimes you just don’t show up on the score sheet, so you’ve just got to stick to the things that you do good and what got you here, and that’s what I try to do,” Vatrano said.

Nino Niederreiter, Eric Staal and Mikael Granlund scored for the Wild who dropped their record to 5-6-1 and fell with a lackluster effort.

“Well, I mean, you saw it. We weren’t very competitive. The first two periods were probably the most embarrassing two periods I’ve been involved with in a lot of teams,” Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau said if his team’s dismal effort.

Devan Dubnyk got the start for the Wild and yielded four goals on just 24 shots; he was given the hook in the second intermission.

Alex Stalock played the third period and made nine saves.

“You know, a good start to the game, and we just got away from what we need to do,” Dubnyk said. “We probably all agree that that second period [when the Wild were outshot 15-4 and outscored 2-0] is unacceptable. It’s about as far away from the way we want to play as you can get, I think.”
