In Boston Monday night, Tuukka Rask made 24 saves to backstop the Bruins to a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars in overtime.
The Bruins were on a 5-on-3 power play in the extra session when Brad Marchand scored the game-winner.
“When we got in the zone I saw that there was only 35 seconds left, or something, so I was trying to get it to the net,” Marchand said. “I was kind of looking for the backdoor [pass] to [Patrice Bergeron] and they were sitting on it. So luckily I got a shot.”
The power play came about from too many men on the ice and a crosschecking call against the Stars.
“The penalties are penalties,” Dallas head coach Jim Montgomery said. “You can maybe debate the too many men, maybe we jumped a half a second early. But the other one, we just pushed on the wrong body part and we ended up down.
“After that I thought we had valiant effort, I thought we did a really good job. But they’ve got very talented hockey players over there, one of the best lines in the league. They’re out there for almost two full minutes 5-on-3, they’re going to score eventually.”
David Pastrnak scored for the Bruins in regulation.
“Obviously we came out on the right end of it tonight. It was a good game for us, I thought we played well. We came out after the second trying not to get frustrated, just realizing that if we played another third period [as well as the first two] we’d end up winning, and ultimately it took a little more time but we got the job done,” the Bruins’ Torey Krug said after the win.
Radek Faksa scored Dallas’ only goal.
“We kind of know what to do and we didn’t do it on the ice today, but we still got one point,” Stars defenseman Roman Polak said. “We didn’t play good enough as a team but we still found a way to get the one point, and I think on the road that’s big for us. Every point is valuable for us so we just have to learn from it.”

Anton Khudobin made 33 saves in the loss.
Dallas dropped to 8-5-1 with the loss and back on the ice Tuesday.
“Say a couple swear words, maybe break the stick against the wall, go on a plane, watch some TV, come back, maybe say another couple swear words, or whatever, yell at somebody and go to sleep,”Khudobin said on prepping for the next ga,e.
